NATIONAL POETRY MONTH YOUTH SUMMIT GIVES STUDENTS THE CHANCE TO WIN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

(RIVIERA BEACH, FL. (March 29, 2024) – Do you know any middle and high school students who are interested in spoken word, poetry, and creative writing? On Saturday, April 13, 2024, The City of Riviera Beach Parks and Recreation is partnering with The Desired Group the creators of the National Poetry Festival with the purpose of empowering and motivating the youth to find their talent through spoken word and creative writing. 6th to 12th-grade students are invited to attend the FREE National Poetry Month Youth Summit to learn public speaking skills and creative writing. 

Students will attend all-day workshops with several notable facilitators and be provided a free lunch. Most importantly, they’ll be exposed to a positive mental health outlet. This event is partially funded by a grant from the State of Florida Youth Cultural Arts Program. Three lucky students will receive a $1500, $1,000, and $500 college scholarship from the Huntt-LaFrance Charitable Trust.

This event is open to the public from 12 pm-3 pm to watch the poetry competition and also learn more information from local nonprofits, on services and programs here in Palm Beach County that specifically support mental health and the youth.
